Fernkloof nature reserve

Less than 400 yards from the house is the Fernkloof Nature Reserve, that has many trails from 1 hour to half a day in length.  The trails can be seen on the hillside immediately behind the house and there are great views over the sea and Hermanus.

Along the trails are many varieties of flowers that vary by altitude and season
  

as well as some wildlife and many birds
 

On most Saturdays there is a popular farmer’s market early in the morning

Grotto beach

The closest sandy beach is Grotto – be careful swimming (see warnings and lifeguards at beach) but great for walking and sports activities.
